This policy explains what personal information D&A Contractors collects through this website, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it. We are the data controller for that information.

What we collect

We only collect information you choose to give us, plus a small amount of technical data collected automatically.

Information you give us. When you submit the quote form on this site we collect your name, phone number, email address, postcode, the service you are interested in and whatever project details you type into the message box.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, ours records technical data when you visit: an approximate location derived from your IP address, the pages you viewed, how long you spent on them, your browser and device type, and how you arrived at the site. This is collected through Google Analytics 4 and, where you arrived from an advert, Google Ads.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

• To respond to your quote request. We use your contact details and project information to get in touch, arrange a site visit and prepare a quotation. Our lawful basis is the performance of a contract or steps taken at your request before entering one.
• To run and improve the website. We use the analytics data described above to understand which pages are useful and which are not. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running an effective website, and for any non-essential cookies your consent.
• To measure our advertising. If you arrive from a Google advert, we use conversion data to see whether that advert led to a genuine enquiry. Our lawful basis is your consent.
• To keep records. We keep a record of enquiries to manage our work and to meet accounting and legal obligations.

Cookies and analytics

Essential cookies are needed for the site to work. Analytics and advertising cookies are set by Google, and only if you accept them. When you first arrive, a banner at the bottom of the page asks whether you are happy for us to use them: accepting turns them on, and rejecting leaves the site working exactly as it does otherwise. Nothing is set before you answer.

Your answer is kept in your own browser rather than on our server. You can change it at any time by choosing Cookie settings in the footer of any page. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the Google Analytics opt-out add-on works as well.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information and we do not share it for others to market to you. We share it only with the service providers who help us run the business and the website: our web hosting provider, our email provider and Google (for analytics and advertising), and only to the extent they need it. Some of these providers process data outside the UK; where they do, transfers are covered by the UK extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or by standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

Quote enquiries that do not become jobs are kept for up to 24 months so we can pick up the conversation if you come back to us. Records relating to work we carried out are kept for as long as needed for warranty, accounting and legal purposes, which is normally six years. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' own retention settings.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR you have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format. Where we rely on consent you can withdraw that consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email info@dandacontractors.co.uk. We will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information, including serving this site over HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

This website is aimed at adults arranging work on their property. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information we will update this page and change the date at the top.
