We want anyone to be able to use this website to find out about our work and get in touch, including people who use a screen reader, rely on a keyboard rather than a mouse, or need larger text and stronger contrast.

What we have done

• Built the site with semantic HTML5 landmarks, so screen readers can jump straight to the navigation, main content and footer.
• Provided a "Skip to content" link as the first focusable element on every page.
• Made the mobile menu keyboard operable and announced its state to assistive technology, and it closes with the Escape key.
• Given every image a text alternative. Purely decorative images are hidden from assistive technology so they are not read out.
• Labelled every form field, and described review star ratings in words as well as symbols.
• Kept text contrast at or above the WCAG 2.1 AA minimum, and never relied on colour alone to convey meaning.
• Respected the operating system's "reduce motion" setting for scrolling animations.
• Made the layout responsive so it reflows down to small phone screens and remains usable when text is enlarged.

Standards we aim for

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. This is an ongoing effort rather than a one-off task, and we check the site as we add to it.

Known limitations

The photo galleries show project images with descriptive alternative text. Where a photograph carries information that is not described in that text (for example specific measurements), we are happy to talk it through on the phone instead.

If you come across a page you cannot use, please tell us. Email info@dandacontractors.co.uk or call 07504 988 152 and describe what happened and which page you were on. We will look into it and reply. If you would rather deal with us by phone than through this website at all, that is completely fine. Call us and we will take your details directly.
